Hello :) I'm Louise and I had scoliosis surgery July 29th 2010. I'm fused T3 to L3 which basically means that pretty much my whole spine is fused apart from 3 discs at the bottom.
I was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 14 and was monitored for 10 years before I decided on the surgery. Click here to read why I decided on scoliosis surgery at 24 rather than 14 when I was initially diagnosed.
Having a fused spine does affect my everyday life in the sense that I can no longer bend my back, so if I want to pick something up I have to bend using my knees (which is better for your back anyway).
As I can't bend my back I have amazing posture and am always sat up completely straight, which is a bit weird at first as you feel like you have a wooden board strapped to your back! You do get used to it though and it becomes normal after a while :)
This blog is all about my experiences of scoliosis surgery and how I cope with my daily life post surgery.
